| Clandestine listening devices have been found in
the Sydney office of two directors of White Industries Ltd, the NSW coalmining
and engineering company.
One was found in the ceiling of the North Sydney office of Mr. Travers Duncan, an executive director of the company. The second was found in an air-conditioning duct on the Bent Street, City, office of Mr. John Kinghorn, a non-executive director. Each device was an FM transmitter about the size of a penlight battery, and included a microphone about the size of a piece of confetti and a thin wire aerial about one metre long. The devices were discovered on Tuesday during a search using sophisticated techniques, of several White Industries offices and the home of the same senior employees.
